Maternity & Postnatal

mother and baby care at home

The early weeks with a newborn are precious and exhausting in equal measure. Our maternity and postnatal nurses support new families at home — caring for your recovery, your baby's feeding and settling, and your emotional wellbeing, so you can focus on your baby.

What to expect

How postnatal care at home works

Gentle, practical and led by you:

1
Get to know you
We understand your birth, your recovery, your baby and how your household is coping.
2
Support the essentials
We help with feeding, settling, your wound and pain relief, and the practical rhythm of the early weeks.
3
Watch wellbeing
We keep a gentle eye on your physical and emotional recovery, and flag anything to your GP or maternal-child health nurse.
4
Build confidence
As you find your feet, we step back, leaving you more confident, not more dependent.
Why Paterson's

Clinical skill and genuine warmth

Postnatal care sits at the intersection of clinical skill and genuine warmth. Our nurses bring both, and know when to involve your GP, lactation support or maternal-child health nurse. Discreet, compassionate and professional, it is the kind of support that makes the fourth trimester feel manageable.

Frequently asked questions
Do you care for the mother as well as the baby?
Yes, that is the point. We care for your recovery, wound and pain as much as your baby's feeding and settling. It is genuinely mother and baby care.
Can you help after a caesarean?
Absolutely. Caesarean wound care, pain management and support with mobility and feeding are all part of what we do.
Do you provide breastfeeding support?
Yes, and for more involved feeding challenges our in-home lactation consultant service works hand in hand with postnatal care.
Can you help watch for postnatal depression?
We stay alert to the signs of postnatal depression and anxiety and will gently raise concerns and involve your GP, so you are not navigating it alone.
Do you offer overnight support?
Yes. Day and overnight support is available by arrangement, so you can actually rest and recover.
